Ranking All The American Girl Christmas Endings

Hello everyone! Welcome back :) I hope you all had a great week, and happy December! It is now, officially, official that it is Christmas season. Wahoo!

Now, I decided to do something a little different for this week's post. I was inspired by an outfit that my doll Saige was wearing for an upcoming lyrical photoshoot I was doing (*wink, wink*), and it reminded me of the classic American Girl movies, that I know many of us AG fans remember from our childhoods. And, though I hadn't realized it until recently, the first three American Girl movies all ended on Christmas. So, I thought what better time to rank them?

Realistically, I could've just looked up the end scene for each movie, and frankly that would have taken a lot less time, but I thought it would be more fun to just watch the whole thing! Which did mean about four and half hours of my life down the drain, but I'd say it was worth it. I'll link each full movie at the end of the post, as well as the end scenes throughout the post, in case you want to watch or rewatch them for yourselves.

I'll be ranking each movie from least favorite to favorite #1 being the best and #3 being the worst. I will also give a short description of the movie before I explain, in detail, my ranking, that way those of you who haven't seen these movies will understand it better. I highly recommend watching these movies in full, but for context, I would watch the short clip first before you continue on with the post.

So, without further ado...Let's get ranking!

Disclaimer:

The following content provides spoilers for the movies.,

1. Samantha: An American Girl Holiday (2004)

2. Felicity: An American Girl Adventure (2005)

3. Molly: An American Girl On The Home Front (2006)

#3: Samantha: An American Girl Holiday

Movie Description:

Samantha: An American Girl Holiday describes the life of a ten-year-old girl named Samantha during the year 1904. When Samantha's soon to be best friend Nellie, and orphan girl, moves in with her family. Everything but that seems to turn upside down from her beloved uncle getting married, to Nellie being sent away. But brave Samantha stays strong, and fights through it all.

I was so sad to rank this one last, since this movie has some of my favorite friendships and relationships out of these movies, but when it comes to endings it felt a tad (just a tad) bit rushed. But I still love it non the less <3 And especially, Jenny speaking for the first time since their mother passed was so, so adorable. And the Christmas atmosphere was so comforting. Snowflakes and all. The characters all felt so special in this entire movie. And the magic of Christmas and love that this family shares were so perfect, especially at the end.

#2: Felicity: An American Girl Adventure

Movie Description:

Felicity: An American Girl Adventure describes the life of a ten-year-old girl named Felicity growing up during the Revolutionary War, who, filled with spirit and kindness, tries to discover what she believes in while helping others, and finding new friends along the way. She finds herself through the sorrow of losing her grandfather, and hope when she rescues the horse of her dreams.

(time skip to 1:29 till 4:08)

Next, is actually the first American Girl movie I ever saw, which might make me biased, but never mind that. This specific ending gives you that surrealness as the credits roll. It truly digs into that Christmas Spirit, which reminds us that, no matter what, kindness and love, is always the answer. And of course, having the snow softly fall down while the carolers sing, is obviously a plus. Felicity has such a kind heart and soul, and the connection she has with her horse Penny is truly special. And the friendship between her and Ben has always seemed so genuine to me. Though, it is simple the ending gives a sense of impact fullness and that warm cuddly feeling.

#1: Molly: An American Girl On The Home Front

Movie Description (for context):

Molly: An American Girl On The Home Front describes the life of a ten-year-old girl named Molly who is growing up in 1943, during World War II, who faces many challenges along the way. From having her father departed to help medically aid wounded soldiers in England, to having a young stranger share her bedroom. Molly courageously helps others, while still staying true to herself.

(time skip to 5:54 till 10:38 for the ending.)

Now, it was very, very difficult for me to pick my favorite, because all of these have such heartwarming endings. But this one felt, not only the most Christmasy, but also the most genuine. I mean, Molly's dad's reaction to their hug at the end was so emotional. And he has one of my favorite lines earlier in the movie: To Molly, "Look at the North Star...It's steady, it's unchanging. You can always depend on it. No matter where we wander, there it is.... You're my North Star."
At the end when Molly and Emily are reading, it gives a simple yet powerful message, like every American Girl movie, and it speaks not only for Christmas but for life as a whole. And the way Molly and Emily's friendship grew from the beginning to the end of the movie was so kind and inspirational.

I feel so warm and cuddly inside now, after rewatching those movies, and the clips while editing 🥰But I have to admit...It was so hard to pick my favorite. And if you asked me to pick my favorite movie as a whole out of these three *scoff* I REALLY wouldn't be able to choose. I mean I've always found these three movies especially so nostalgic from my younger years of childhood. And they still give me that magical feeling to this day.
If you haven't seen these movies (in addition to Kit's) I would highly recommend them! Though, again, I might be biased but these movies have aged pretty well in my opinion. And they are still entertaining and fun. I especially, now that I'm older, love the soundtracks ♡ I just wish they had the songs on Spotify. I could barely even find them on YouTube, lol. I guess that just shows their age and popularity.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! And that it may be
brought back some nostalgic memories for you as well. And if not, I still hope you had fun and that you feel just as touched as I do. I hope you have a very merry start of December. And I will see you next week :)

I love each and every one of you 💜

  1. I'll admit that Molly's is the only one of these I've seen all the way through. There was one point where I was trying to watch all the AG movies, so I have all of them except Felicity's on DVD, but I can't sit still long enough to finish a movie. 😅 When I was nine, we rented Felicity's movie from the library, but my brother was scared of Jiggy Nye so my mom made us turn it off. 🤣😭 I really want to watch it now, but all of my AG DVD's are flea market finds, and I just haven't gotten lucky enough to find it yet. Samantha's movie has been on my watchlist for a year, but I haven't watched it, either. Otherwise, I really liked Kit's! I thought that even though it didn't follow her original storyline exactly, the plot was really enjoyable. (And I love the AG mystery books, so the fact that they made the whole movie a mystery was just *chef's kiss*🤌💋)

    1. Ah, yes! I remember being slightly scared of Jiggy Nye, as well when I was little, lol. And I can understand not being able to sit through and watch all the movies. They aren't very fast paced movies, except for Kit's, which I loved as well ❤️ So I agree 💯 Her's is definitely one of the best AG movies! But they are all definitely worth the watch 💕
