The Sugar Plum Princess - A Photoshoot
Hello there, everyone! Happy December <3
I hope you guys are doing well. As you can probably tell, (unless you weren't paying attention...) today I have a photoshoot prepared for you! It's the holiday season now, and it's been pretty cold and snowy recently, here where I live. So, what better time to do a photoshoot?
During my snow day I was wading through my bin of doll clothes, searching my shelves, trying to think up a unique idea for a post. I knew I wanted to make something for the season, besides my annual blogiversary and Christmas day posts. But I feel like I always reach for the same red and green outfits and dress the same few dolls every time Christmas comes around. So, after a while of doing nothing but lay on my bed, staring at the celling, trying to will my creativity to suddenly spark!... it did!
Out of the many things that come up around the holidays, my mind went to...The Nutcracker! More specifically, Barbie in the Nutcracker; a movie I have not seen in full for many years. The Nutcracker is a classic ballet, that I know a lot of people see, in many forms, during the holiday season. It's never been a family tradition in my house, but I always enjoyed reading the book version from our stack of Christmas books we get out every year. And, from what I remember, Barbie's rendition of the Nutcracker was very good! Tim Curry and all!
Caroline's blonde curly hair made her the perfect Barbie/Clara/Marie (which is the character's original name, I believe). After a bit of searching, I found a pink dress and white slippers that looked close enough to the outfit. And with some pretty pearls, and a mini nutcracker I had in a tin box; I had all I needed for a cold winter photoshoot.
I wasn't going to label this as a lyrical photoshoot, because, obviously, any of the music I'll be including in the post doesn't have lyrics, buuuuut, I wanted to add some ambience to the photoshoot regardless. So, here's a song from Barbie in the Nutcracker, that, at least to me, is perfect <3
