Reviewing American Girl's NEWISH Halloween Costumes!
Hi everyone! How are you guys doing?
So if you guys haven't seen it yet I posted a blog post on my other blog where I reviewed Fashion Nova Halloween costumes, I Compared Fashion Nova Halloween Costumes To The Real Thing! YIKES!!! And that inspired me to review more Halloweeneey stuff! Now these Halloween costumes, from AG, came out sometime in August or September so basically I'm very late 😅 But doing this post in the month of Halloween,where every post I do is fall themed just felt right! Now just so you guys know, I don't own any of these outfits so I'm just going to be reviewing them based off of my personal thoughts from the information I can gather from AG's stock photos, reviews, and quality in general. So let's not waste anymore time and get started!!!
#1: Spooky Spells Witch Costume for 18-inch Dolls - Priced at $40

This Outfit Set Includes:
- A black and rainbow dress with an attached turquoise belt
- A matching Witch hat
- A pair of fingerless gloves
- A pair of black glittery boots and matching striped socks
- And even a magical broomstick!
#2: Pretty Pumpkin Costume for 18-inch Dolls - $40.00

This Outfit Set Includes:
- An orange sequin pumpkin dress with long black sleeves
- With a matching beret
- A pair of orange and black striped leggings
- And lastly, a pair of matching black boots!
Okay! Now I do really like this costume! I think it's very cute and simple <3 I do wish the black sleeves could be a shirt that you can remove, that way you could have more pieces to mix and match with. I also think it would have been a cuter outfit if it didn't have sequins, but I can see why they would choose to add that little detail to make it more interesting, and overall the pumpkin dress is really cute! I'm not a huge fan of the beret either. I feel like it would have been cuter if it was a headband or even a different type of hat. But what do you guys think? I do love the boots and leggings though <3 This is a hard costume to rate because I feel like with the changes that I would do would make I would rate this costume pretty high, because I love the pumpkin idea! B-u-t we are going off of how American Girl made these outfits so... I've concluded that this costume deserves a solid 6.6/10
#3: You Glow, Girl! Skeleton Costume for 18-inch Dolls - $40.00
(not including sales, coupons, and other additional price reductions)
This Outfit Set Includes:
- A Skeleton dress with a tattered tulle skirt
- A pair of matching leggings
- Some cute pink glittery sneakers
- And finally, a pink hair extension clip!
I'm not the biggest fan of this outfit, I mean it's cute! I just feel like it's not my favorite out of all the Halloween costumes American Girl made. I immediately thought of Monster High when I saw it though 😅 Does anyone remember that series? That was my childhood! Now I'm just rambling on, so let's talk about the things I do like! The overall concept of the outfit is very cute <3 I love the more spooky vibe to this costume, and the little bit of pink really pops on the solid black dress. I also do like the pink sneakers :) I just don't know what it would match with besides the outfit that it comes with, because if I'm going to buy an outfit I want to be able to reuse the items for other things. You know?
I really don't like the hair extension it's just not my favorite. I feel like it's giving Isabelle's hair but not as cute. So I think I'm going to rate it a 4.5/10
#4: Courtney's Halloween Costume for 18-inch Dolls - $42.00
(not including sales, coupons, and other additional price reductions)
This Outfit Set Includes:
- A sparkly white and pink jumpsuit
- A pair of puffy sliver/white boots
- And a space blaster to tie it all together!
This costume is pretty cute! I feel like it needs some sort of hair accessory because right now it looks a bit plain. I do think the idea is really smart though especially since Courtney is supposed to love video games! I do think it's very 80's, which you guys know I love <3 And the blaster is a really nice touch. But tell me why this costume is $42 and only has three items?! The other costumes I sort of understand because they have a good bit of pieces, and this one is two more dollars, like what? A-n-yway I'm going to rate this costume a 6.7/10 I'm giving it extra points for the creativity factor :)
#5: Maryellen's Cowgirl Costume for 18-inch Dolls - $42.00
(not including sales, coupons, and other additional price reductions)
This Outfit Set Includes:
- A long sleeved checkered shirt with a western vest attached
- A flared denim skirt
- A red and white cowboy hat
- And lastly a pair of red cowboy boots with a white star detail!
Oh my gosh this costume is TOO cute!!! This is by far my favorite, it's so pretty <3 I wish it was more Halloweeneey though, like maybe if they added some sort of basket or pillowcase, for candy, you know? And I do wish the vest and long sleeve shirt were two different items. But otherwise I have no other complaints! The top and skirt combo is definitely my favorite part though :) I'm honestly pretty surprised this isn't sold out already! So with that being said, I'm going to rate this a 9.8/10 I took down a few decimal points because this costume is missing something, but I'm not sure what 🤔 What do you think?
